DRG TAKE BBC'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE TO EAST EUROPE

25th June 2010

DISCOP East SpecialDRG confirmed today significant sales for the second season of its acclaimed prime time BBC drama Criminal Justice to BBC Worldwide Channels to air on BBC Entertainment in Poland and HRT, the leading public broadcaster in Croatia.

Today’s deals establish Criminal Justice as one of the UK’s most widely distributed dramas launched in the past year - and the series is now licensed to more than 70 territories worldwide.

Criminal Justice is produced by BBC Productions and the gripping 5 x 1 hour second season stars Maxine Peake and Matthew MacFadyen, who recently collected the BAFTA 2010 Award for Best Supporting Actor.

MacFadyen co-stars as a respected barrister at the height of his professional powers. The series follows Juliet (Peake) through the criminal justice system as she struggles to lead a normal life after attempting to kill her abusive husband (McFadyen).

Both of the broadcasters are anticipated to launch the second season locally in late 2010. The broadcasters launched the first season of Criminal Justice earlier this year – following the UK premiere of season two on BBC One, which achieved a winning 20.8% share of all viewers at 9pm.

Reema Patel, Senior Sales Executive for Eastern Europe, Pan European and Benelux said “Criminal Justice combines a thrilling script and universally relevant characters - backed by a proven track record as a top rating drama on the BBC. The series is fast becoming one of the UK’s most successful TV drama exports and we’re delighted to working with BBC Worldwide Channels and HRT in launching the second season of this superb British drama locally.”
